We are delighted to invite back Gina McCormack who is no stranger to Kelso Old Parish Church, whether as a String Quartet leader, Duo Recitalist or Concert Organiser!

Gina studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as well as attending masterclasses with many distinguished musicians. Whilst a student she was a prizewinner in the Royal Overseas League Music Competition and the International Young Concert Artists' Competition. For many years she was the leader of the Sorrel Quartet with whom she performed regularly on BBC Radio3 and also made many recordings. Following this period she also lead the Maggini  and Brodsky Quartets, leaving to focus on solo work. She has been linked with a number of orchestras including  a long association with the choreographer Matthew Bourne, whose New Adventures Orchestra she led for many years. As a well known teacher she has been on the staff of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Royal Northern College of Music as well as taking masterclasses both in the UK and abroad.

She will be performing in an expanding ensemble drawn from her friends in the musical world. As well as her regular duo partner we will hear colleagues  from Manchester and Newcastle, all  principal players in orchestras.

The programme starts with the delightful one movement String Trio in Bb by Schubert followed by the lyrical and spirited  First Piano Quartet by Brahms. The second half presents one of the great masterpieces of 19th Century chamber music, the Piano Quintet by Schumann.
