"It is not every concert that I am captivated throughout. Last night I was. Nikita Lukinov's programme went from tender to thunderous (I've never heard a piano be so loud, exciting, percussive, but then again so gentle, expressive, poignant). The programme was so well fashioned.
His introductions helped us understand what we were to hear - informative, interesting. I felt I was being drawn in to the composer's work. Truth to tell, I sometimes lose interest a bit in a performance, find myself thinking 'what will I have for breakfast - eggs or cereal? ' Not last night. The audience members I spoke to after the concert were similarly enthusiastic - 'blown away', 'knocked out', 'absolutely marvellous' they said. A splendid concert to cap a splendid season of concerts at Kelso Music Society."
