Trio Isimsiz

Beethoven

Piano Trio in D Op.70 No.1 (The Ghost)

Wolfgang Rihm

Freude Szene lll

Tchaikovsky

Piano Trio in A minor Op.50

The Trio Isimsiz will be playing two of the greatest works of the piano trio repertoire,  Beethoven's Ghost Trio and the Tchaikovsky's largescale piano trio together with an exciting, highly charged piece by Wolfgang Rihm which will be perfectly suited to the Kelso Old acoustic.

They were formed at the Guildhall school of Music in
2009, last year won the Trondheim International Chamber
Music Competition which in that year specialised in the
piano trio. This is a competition that attracts all the best
young piano trios from around the world.
All three members of the Trio Isimsiz Piano Trio enjoy
great success individually. Erdem Misirlioglu was a
Concerto Finalist in the BBC Young Musician Competition
in 2008, Pablo Hernán Benedí is a member of the
Chiaroscuro Quartet, formed by Alina Ibragimova,
and Michael Petrov represented the UK in the European Concert Halls Organisation Rising Star series during the 2014/15 season.

Concert highlights over the last year have included recitals
at Wigmore Hall, Barbican, Purcell Room, Sage Gateshead,
Colston Hall, Brighton Dome. They have taken part in
masterclasses with Menahem Pressler, Steven Isselis and
with the Gould Piano Trio who visited Kelso last season.

The trio (Isimsiz means “without a name” in Turkish) performed the Haydn with expressive delicacy. But the Beethoven was immediately full of tension, as if musical elastic bands connected the players. The C Minor came out sounding utterly radical and unexpected. The musicians also brought out the best in Schubert’s substantial take on the piano trio, giving it vibrancy and colour, with a beautifully played slow movement.
